Zhang Weiliang of our School went to Turkey to attend the 13th PICARD Conference of World Customs Organization

At the invitation of the World Customs Organization (WCO) and Turkey's Ministry of Customs and Trade, associate professor Zhang Weiliang of our School traveled to Malatya, Turkey to attend the 13th PICARD Conference of World Customs Organization (Partnership in Customs Academic Research and Development), which will be held from 9 to 11 October.

 

The World Customs Organization (WCO) PICARD Conference is held once a year and has held 13 sessions so far. The School of Public Administration is a member of PICARD. The conference was attended by more than 220 delegates from 66 member countries of WCO. The topics of this conference are: Customs and Data Analysis, Customs and Trade Facilitation, Customs and Cross-border E-Commerce, and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

                                      

At the opening ceremony of the conference, Mr. Kunio Mikuriya, Secretary-General of WCO; Mr. Bulent Tufenkci, Turkish parliamentarians (Former Minister of Customs and Trade); Mr. Fatih Metin, Deputy Minister and Mr. Jaeho Jung, Director of Multilateral Cooperation Department of Customs and Trade of Korea addressed respectively. They discussed and shared opinions on the role of WCO and customs of all countries in the past and current international trade, customs enforcement experience of different countries and measures to promote trade facilitation. The conference was also divided into two venues: “Data Analysis, Security and Intelligence” and “Trade Facilitation”.

 

According to the request of the Organizing Committee of the Conference, associate professor Zhang Weiliang read out the paper "China Customs: The Risk Analysis and Treatment in Processing Trade" at the conference, which obtained unanimous and highly recognition.
