On July 13, 2019, the 7th Annual Conference of International Cultural Management hosted by University of International Business and Economics and Beijing Union University was held in Beijing Union University. Teng Yun, Secretary of the Party Committee of School of Public Administration of our university, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the conference. At the conference, more than 100 experts, scholars, government and enterprise representatives from home and abroad conducted in-depth discussions on the central topic of “Theory and Practice of China’s Cultural Prosperity and Development in the Past 70 Years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China”, in combination with their respective researches in different fields.

In the morning, there were two sessions, chaired respectively by Professor Wu Chengzhong and Professor Tang Shaoqing, with 10 Chinese and foreign scholars giving wonderful speeches, including Professor Xiong Chengyu, Director of National Cultural Industry Center of Tsinghua University, Professor Fevzi Okumus, Editor-in-chief of “International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management” (SSCI journal), and Professor Jin Yuanpu, Director of Research Center of Cultural and Creative Industries of Renmin University of China, Professor Wu Chengzhong, Director of Culture and Leisure Industry Research Center of University of International Business and Economics, who is also a professor of the School of Public Administration of UIBE, and other famous scholars.

The afternoon session was presided over by Dr. Li Xin’E of Beijing Union University. Professor Zhang Zhihua of the School of Art and Media of Beijing Normal University, Associate Professor Faizan Ali of the School of Tourism and Technology Leadership of the University of South Florida, Associate Professor Jason Kovacs of Seoul University in South Korea, and Professor Xie Xuefang of the Department of Art and Cultural Industry of Tongji University made wonderful speeches. In the conference, Chinese and foreign scholars expressed their views from different aspects around the theme of the conference, which greatly promoted the cultural exchange between China and foreign countries and promoted the development of Chinese culture.

Subsequently, the Public Culture Forum, the Young Scholars Forum and the Public Cultural Service Sub-forum were launched at the same time, chaired respectively by Associate Professor Wang Xiaofang, Associate Professor Sun Qiong and Professor Shao Peng, Director of the Public Cultural Service Research Center of our university. Professor Yang Yongzhong, Director of the Research Institute of Creative Culture Management of Sichuan University, Professor Yue Guining, Research Institute of Thailand Culture of Guangxi University, Associate Professor Zang Zhipeng, School of Communication of East China University of Political Science and Law, Associate Professor Xu Jin of Vassar College in the United States and other scholars acted as commentators to comment on the views of the young scholars in their group.

The conference was hosted by the University of International Business and Economics and Beijing Union University, School of Management of BUU, School of Public Administration of UIBE, the Research Center of Culture and Leisure Industry of UIBE, and the Editorial Department of “International Cultural Management”. This Conference promoted communications among experts and scholars of domestic and foreign universities, entrepreneurs, administers and NGO managers in the field of culture; successfully built an international cooperation platform for discipline of cultural management, and better promoted the development of cultural management discipline and cultural creative industry in China.
