Forty years of plowing leads to four decades of harvesting. On May 30, 2015, School of Public Administration of University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) will mark its 40th anniversary of foundation with a celebration. At the occasion, we sincerely send our greetings and respect for the government leader, alumnus from both home and abroad, friends from all walks of life who have shown long lasting care and support for us.
Precursor of School of Public Administration, Department of Customs Administration was founded in 1974, which started admission in the following year and coincidently was the only undergraduate unit offering customs administration courses at the time. After four decades of development, the school have managed to send thousands of graduates to the customs system, quality inspection and quarantine system, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, etc. many of whom have made senior management positions in their respective institutions, including General Administration of Customs, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, and local level customs. After forty years of hard work by several generations of our faculty and students, we have made a series of breakthrough in terms of teaching conditions, discipline construction, scientific research, professional training, social service, and international exchanges, raising our profile in the academic and social communities.
Forty year of seeking results in forty-year worth of achievement. School of Public Administration has established a complete set of disciplinary sequence and a professional training system that offers undergraduate, graduate and PhD degrees. We now have 4 undergraduate programs; and in terms of graduate education, we now are authorized to award first order graduate degrees (including 6 second order graduate programs) and MPA degrees. As far as PhD programs goes, we are authorized to enroll PhD students under the second level discipline of Finance. School of Public Administration, on a track of fast development, will thoroughly practice the university motto of “Knowledge, Integrity, Pursuit, and Relentlessness” and our own belief in running the school of “Morality, Public Welfare, Self Discipline and Rearing”. Following the mainstream and attaching great importance to foundation and practice, we will strive to build school of public administration into an influential teaching and research institution that makes greater contribution to the society.
In celebrating the 40th birthday of School of Public Administration we hope to build on our previous achievements and make this occasion a new starting point and opportunity to renew our resolve in our efforts to embrace an even brighter future. This celebration will bring together hearts and wisdom from around the world, which will enable School of Public Administration to offer an endless stream of outward looking talents for relative government institutions and enterprises. In this occasion, we sincerely invite leaders from all levels of governments, alumnus from both home and abroad, as well as people from all walks of life, who show care and support to School of Public Administration, to come back to UIBE, rekindling our friendship and writing a new chapter for the future to come.
